NCADA Joins Other States Calling for Clarity from Honda and Volkswagen on Planned Distribution

Raleigh, NC –April 19, 2024 — Earlier this week, NCADA participated in a joint message to Honda and Volkswagen published in Automotive News. The message from the Automotive Trade Association Executives (“ATAE”) to Honda (Sony Honda Mobility) and Volkswagen (Scout) is in response to the lack of clarity from these companies with regard to their respective plans for distribution of the Sony Honda Mobility Afeela and the Volkswagen Scout. The message highlights the consumer benefits of franchised dealers and also notes the restrictions in various state laws (including North Carolina’s franchise law) prohibiting manufacturers from directly or indirectly selling motor vehicles without the use of franchised dealers.
